A CONVERSATION

 5 Sigma is a declaration of discovery. In science, it is used as a measure of confidence in a result. At Anastasis Academy, we are in a continual process of discovery. We call our education conference "5 Sigma" because that is what we hope for - declarations of discovery.

The 5Sigma Education Conference has been on hold since 2020, when a pandemic thwarted our gathering plans. As we considered how to get back into the conference flow, we continually came back to the desire for smaller, more intimate, and meaningful conversations. So, rather than jump into planning keynote speakers and sessions, we decided on a different approach in 2023; 5Sigma, a conversation.

We are excited to offer a more intimate and collaborative exploration of innovative practices in teaching and learning. This conference will be an interactive and engaging experience for educators, administrators, and those interested in learner-centered design. We'll tour Anastasis Academy, a k-8th grade school that has implemented learner-centered design for the last 12 years. During the student-led tour, we will observe classrooms, ask questions, and explore the school's design and culture.

 

This is an interactive conference, and we encourage participants to bring learner-centered questions or problems they are experiencing so we can collaboratively design solutions. We will explore learner-centered instructional design, assessment, classroom design, and other innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

Your experience will include opportunities to: 

• observe multi-level inquiry classrooms in action;

• learn more about the inquiry model;

• discover and review alternative assessment practices;

• examine methods of meeting the needs of diverse learners;

• tour and study student agency in an open learning environment;

• explore learning tools that will transform the way you're thinking about teaching and learning;

•  

  collaboratively design a solution for a problem/challenge you'd like support with!
